In Memory of Rudolf Bohren (1920-2010)

The Board of Societas Homiletica announces the death of Rudolf Bohren. He passed into eternity in the age of 90 years on 1st February, 2010. We condole with his wife, Mrs. Bohren, on the death of Rudolf Bohren.

Rudolf Bohren was the founder and friend of Societas Homiletica. He was born in Grindelwald / Switzerland on 22th March, 1920. He studied theology in Bern and Basel as a disciple of Karl Barth and Eduard Thurneysen. After a time of being a pastor in Switzerland he teached as professor at the Universities of Wuppertal, Berlin and Heidelberg. He was one of the most important European Homileticians of the 20th century.

 

 

Societas Homiletica will honor the memory of his founder Rudolf Bohren.

The Societas Homiletica is an academic and international society for teachers and researchers of preaching and homilics, the academic discipline of preaching.

Its main activity is a biannual international conference and the publication of its proceedings.

The international board of the Society convenes between conferences for a preparatory meeting.
