Lucy Hogan (co-president)
hoganLucy Lind Hogan is the Hugh Latimer Elderdice Professor of Preaching and Worship at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC where she has taught since 1987

 

She is ordained in the Episcopal Church and is a priest in the Diocese of Washington. Raised in Minnesota, she graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, with a major in Art and Art Education. She attended the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkley, California and received her M.Div. from The Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia. Lucy has a Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Seminary and received her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Public Communication from the University of Maryland. She is the author of Connecting with the Congregation: Rhetoric and the Art of Preaching (1999) and her most recent books are Graceful Speech: An Invitation to Preaching,( 2006) and Lenten Services (2009). She recently completed her term as Secretary of the North American Academy of Homiletics, and now is the co-president of Societas Homiletica, the international homiletic organization. Lucy’s husband, Kevin, recently opened a Dermatology practice in Frederick, Maryland. He also has a Ph.D. in Religion and Culture from The Catholic University. Lucy and Kevin have two sons; Paul, and his wife Sabine who live in Seattle, and John, who lives in Cincinnati. They also have a lovely granddaughter, Saskia, Paul's daughter.
